BACON FINNEGAN

AND THE RELICS OF MERLIN

"From the beginning of time, a mighty and powerful King ruled the worlds of the universe . . . and all was good!"

The Quasar King

From the beginning of time, a mighty and powerful King ruled the worlds of the universe. He was called the Quasar King. He derived this name because he was more powerful than all of the stars in the universe combined. The Quasar King ruled with his race of supreme beings called Decnalabs. These ancient ones possess the deep secret craft of wizardry and sorcery. With their magical powers, they control the elements of fire, water, cosmos and terra. They morph through space, and a select few can meld through time. As keepers of the cosmic order, they watch over the worlds inhabited with the races of Humanoids, Giants, Dwarves, Gnomes, Merepeople and Fairy Folk.

And all in the universe was good.

The Corrupton of Universal Order

After a great time of harmony, a single Decnalab rebelled against the higher order. Upon his rebellion, the Quasar King had him cast out of the kingdom. Converting to evil and devising the art of Black Magic, he converted other Decnalabs to evil and massed a great rebellion among the ancient ones. These fallen Decnalabs called themselves Tacamocs. These corrupted beings scourge the universe creating darkness wherever they go. They dispel their demented wickedness by riddling planets with their magically mutated creatures of Goblins, Red Caps, Trolls, Manticores, Mummies, Werewolves, Vampires, Wraiths and Demons.

And the universe became corrupted.

The Prophecy of Rye

Not only did the Tacamoc bring darkness to the planets they visited, they also cast down many Decnalabs in their wake. As the Decnalab numbers declined, the Tacamoc grew stronger and threatened the rule of the Quasar King.

The Quasar King was greatly disheartened over the evil that plagued his kingdom and he turned to his council, The High Order of Readonum, for guidance. The preceding night, Nicodermus Rye, Scribe, Order of the Quasar Star, High Order of Readonum, born with past knowledge and prophetic powers envisioned a turning tide. In his address to the council and the Quasar King, he foretold of the one who will come from humanoids and attempt to bring balance and peace back to the universe. He is to collect seventeen magical relics from different galaxies. With their powers, he will become great, greater than any Tacamoc. All evil will shudder and he will displace them from the universe.

The King thought about this for a while. A few days later, he summoned all the Decnalabs from around the universe. Nicodermus Rye read the scroll of his prophecy to grand assembly of supreme beings and from that moment forward, "The Prophecy of Rye" emerged as the token of their fate. As the prophecy passed from lips to lips, a new order began and in that moment, a new Decnalabrean purpose was handed down from their King. Their charge: protect the life forms of the planets from the evil Tacamoc and protect the humanoids . . . for the prophetic one will come from them.

As news of the prophecy, spread to the Tacamoc they converged on Earth and a struggle of Good and Evil riddled the planet as the search for the one ensued.

In early England, a Decnalab emerged to protect man. Through his life on Earth, people knew him as a wizard, sorcerer, prophet, bard, advisor and a tutor. His name was Ambrosius, better known as Merlin. Through his powers, he was given the ability to see everything of the past and foretell the future. According to lore, he was mostly known for his role as an advisor, first as a boy to King Vortigern and then to King Arthur.

Humans only saw Merlin as an advisor and a prophet whose foresights rang true. They do not know much about Merlin?s celestial ties. The Decnalabs who knew of him, saw him as the coming of The Prophecy of Rye. In his disappearances from earth, he traveled to many distant worlds collecting seven magical relics, just as the prophecy fortold. He, supposedly being born a half-blood, was thought to be the one to emerge form humans and destroy the Tacamoc with the ultimate power the relics would give him.

But, it was his own undoing that put a halt to this. He fell deeply in love with a fairy woman called Niniane. Unknown to Merlin, Niniane used his love in her favor. Merlin took her in as his apprentice. She got him to teach her his magical secrets. This was nothing more than subterfuge to get close to Merlin. Her master, a Tacamoc, had sent her to Earth to gain his trust and when Merlin had the seven articles, she was to steal them and bring them to him.

Humans know little about the actual events surrounding Merlin and Niniane. From what is written in human legend on Earth, Niniane cast him into an oak tree, bush, tower or rock while he was sleeping. From Decnalbrean legend, Merlin slipped away through the portal of the "Lady of The Lake" and hid the relics throughout the universe before Niniane cast her spell on him.

For thousands of years the prophecy would rest, occasionally passing over the lips of the Decnalab. Today, they wait for the one to emerge from humankind and collect the hidden articles. If successful, the prophetic one will release Merlin from the tree and battle against the evil Tacamoc and their agents. The fate of the universe depends on the success of the one emerging from humans, bearing the Quasar Star.
