Settling Other Worlds
In the mid twenty first century, Anon Domino Earth years, humans used Earth's international space station as a launching pad for the colonization of Mars. The successful colony proved that it was possible for humans to thrive in space and inhabit other planets like Earth. Then, with the joint venture of multiple world governments and free enterprises, an international space program was developed.
Now with the proper funding, the space program advanced from being limited to trips to the moon and Mars, to reaching out as far as Pluto. By the end of the twenty second century, humans set up colonies on Jupiter, Saturn, and Uranus.
However, it was not until the great minds of Gregor T. Hamling and Bart A. Tschemp created a fusion propulsion system that could take humans into deep space that set the stage for humanities thrust into the universe.
At first select humans, who had the funds to do so migrated out beyond the solar system. Then the brilliant scientists sold their invention to a private transportation company that produced a new space ship that could carry thousands of passengers into other solar systems and into other galaxies. With the privatization of space travel the new frontier was not just limited to astronauts and billionaire CEO's but it became accessible to everyone.
As humans emerged into space the governments on Earth knew that it was necessary to join together to form one wholly defined government. This government, the United Intergalactic Federation devised their own set of laws and defined one common language, currency and rule to carry forward into the universe.
In the exodus from earth space transportation became a giant thriving business. Millions of people gathered their families, loaded up their possessions and ventured into other solar systems finding inhabitable planets like Earth to colonize.
For the next seven thousand years, these colonists migrated deep into space creating new civilizations on worlds in seven galaxies surrounding the Milky Way. Several of these galaxies are; the Worratel Galaxy, Orion Galaxy, Grubhtron Galaxy, Manatra Galaxy, Kerish-Nav Galaxy, X-10-HML Galaxy and the Sweetsung Galaxy.
On top of discovering new and uncharted planets to colonize, the UIF created an advanced system of Penal Colonies throughout the galaxies. Over five thousand security facilities, built on remote and uninhabitable planets, house some of the most notorious human criminals. Fleets of UIF starships routinely supply the penal planets as well as visiting major ports on the planets throughout the neighboring galaxies.
Most civilization have thrived under the rule of the UIF. However, some remote planets have developed their own governments, rulerships and way of life.
It is on these planets, that this tale will unfold.
